Shuiweiccun Footbridge, Shenzhen

The project is located on Fuqiang Road in the city center. Nearby there are Huanggang Park,  primary schools and residential towers. The design uses a standardized design of steel components that can be produced at the factory to better control the quality of the project. Moreover, the project can be quickly installed after the factory is produced, which has less impact on traffic. The top canopy combines the design elements of the East Wind and Rain Bridge to make the entrance of the approach bridge more ceremonial. The design of the large module tops on both sides cleverly solves the problem of the construction and asymmetry of the site pile foundation.

Single-Column Canopy Structure for Unobstructed Views

The design of the Fokqiang pedestrian overpass has changed the supporting structure of the ordinary overpass's side columns. It innovatively adopts a single-column umbrella-shaped steel structure to support the roof of the bridge. While ensuring the safety of pedestrians' passage, it enables them to enjoy the views on both sides of the overpass without any obstruction.

 

The view will not be affected by the columns on the bridge, allowing one to take in the beautiful scenery of Shenzhen throughout the year. This design is based on people's psychology when passing through the overpass. Most people tend to look at the sides of the overpass to appreciate the city's street scenes. Therefore, this design can provide people with more pleasant experiences during their passage through the overpass.

Rainwater Harvesting for Energy Efficiency & Environment

The canopy features a centralized drainage system. Downpipes channel water from the roof into longitudinal pipes within the steel box girder. The deck has a 1% cross slope to collect rainwater into flower beds at the ends, which then drains into绿化带 below, demonstrating smart water management.

Attention to Detail & Outstanding Quality

As night falls, the lights of the overpass also rise quietly, highlighting the quality and connotation of the overpass. The lights on the main bridge adopt strip-shaped light strips, combined with the umbrella-shaped structure of the columns, forming an X-shaped shadow on the ground, which is faint and full of charm in the night. At the bottom of the main bridge, the surface adopts an inward-convex design and adds uniform wall washing lights for illumination, presenting a unique lighting effect in the night, which will dispel some daily boredom and monotony when drivers drive under the bridge.

Barrier-Free Design for All

Two elevators on either side ensure accessibility for the elderly, disabled, children, and those with luggage or bikes, enhancing comfort and convenience for all users.
