Xiangmihu Park Footbridge,Shenzhen

The Xiangmihu Park footbridge spans Hongli West Road, which is an east-west main road in the central Futian District. The north side of the road is Xiangmihu Park, and the south side is the residential district such as Donghai Garden and Shenye Middle City. At present, there are two zebra crossings at the both ends of the Xiangmi Park section of Hongli West Road, about 450m apart. The new footbridge connects Shenye  Complex and Xiangmihu Park, so that people could flow seamlessly between the park and the commercial complex.

Immersive Footbridge Design

With the outstanding natural environment of Xiangmihu Park, ATD's design introduces green belt directly into the footbridge with zero-distance. Different from the exaggerated and complicated design of the canopy in other footbridges, it plays down the proportion of the canopy and pays more attention to the user's experience and uses more funds to create the quality of the footbridge itself and the feeling of people, enhances the interaction between people and greening belt, reduces the attraction of exaggerated shapes to drivers, and tries to be as transparent as possible.

The glass roof and canopy in primary metal colors express the connection between the footbridge and the city. Through the canopy, you can see the glass curtain wall of the adjacent office building, and feel the modern urban landscape of Shenzhen, which can be integrated into it and has a natural breath.

 

The footbridge has great transparency, which could see the changes of the city's image with natural light, refracting or reflecting this city, presenting wonderful pictures of morning, sunset and evening scenery at different times. The footbridge has also become a "landscape" that is always changing.

The Flowing "S" line

The high-density urban architecture increased space utilization and vertical changes to adapt to future urban development. In addition to connecting the pavements over and under the footbridge, the footbridge can also connect the surrounding buildings on the second floor. The Xiangmihu Park footbridge can directly connect the second floor of the park and the entrance to the second floor of the complex podium, but the two interfaces are not in a straight line. The footbridge was originally designed in the form of a "diagonal" line, but the viewing angle is a little weird, and the driver will feel awkward when looking at the front of the footbridge. Therefore, the "S" line is changed to cleverly connect the two interfaces. Such a changeable form weakens the sharp and individual lines, and makes the design integrated into the city and rich identification, creating a visual experience similar to "infinity".
